Frau Holle’s pond on Hoher Meißner, Hesse, Germany. Roman coins dating back 2000 years have been found in the pond, showing it was used as a place of worship, and today, people still leave flowers for Frau Holle at the pond.

Many of the folktales about Frau Holle originate from Hesse, and local folklore maintains that Her home and an entrance to the otherworld is at the bottom of the pond, from which She watches over the dead and the unborn, who enter the world through the pond.

In places such as these, paganism is a living tradition.

Good afternoon, from The Verdant Kingdom.

Here is a preview of the Vernal Equinox flags that will be available March 1st.

They feature original VK artwork, carved and hand printed on leaf green linen. Each flag varies slightly.

They can be used as small flags or large patches for adornment.

Interesting piece showing Woden wearing a headdress similar to figures from the Sutton Hoo finds. I cannot find much information about this archaeological find (?) apart from it is said to be dated to the 6th-7th century.

As some of you may know, I collect vintage Scandinavian art and I recently stumbled upon a true treasure. This vintage Norwegian wall hanging features Prillar-Guri, also known as Prillarguri, a legendary character from folklore. According to oral tradition, she was a woman hailing from Sel, Norway, who played a pivotal role in the Battle of Kringen.
This tale holds a special place in my heart, particularly because Sel is situated in the historic region of Gudbrandsdal, which is the ancestral home of my family.
