STJ here discusses a topic we are all going to have to come to terms with in our collective sphere. That among "this thing of ours" we tend towards a level of tightfistedness that would make Scrooge blush. We are comically outspent by literal demon-hearted cowards.
Some of this is sociological, our thing is popular with young working class men who simply have less money to go around. Some of that is going to have to change and adapt. (Sorry Grug-bois, we're gonna have to learn to attract intelligent professionals from cities).
Some of this is just culture. The far right has a culture of crabs in a bucket and anytime someone creates something and asks for money they are "selling out" or "grifting". We need to do away with that, shout down these crabs and throw them out of our bucket, or we will never collectively get anywhere.
