The Golden Horns of Gallehus

The music you hear is played on reproductions of the Gallehus Horns. An integral part of Pagan Revivalism is living and thinking as our forefathers and foremothers did, but what about hearing what they did?

These reproductions of ancestral instruments, whether thry be the Celtic Carnyx, the Roman Cornu, The Germanic Lur or any other instrument, gives us a window into the lives of the ancients. This will aid in Revivalism more than we know!

Gods love you!

This is a modern recreation of a Roman Lararium, which would be akin to a home temple / altar where the family would gather to worship at home.

They were normally placed in the atrium or hearth. Some would be built into the structure of the home, whilst others would be a kind of cabinet like this!

Something to keep in mind for adding a home worship space.

Shout out to Arcane Accents who, in the interview with The Witch Mother eluded to wanting to possibly make something similar in the future! 👀👀

Two of my favorite moments from our Sumarmál gathering.

The first shows a young child after completing our “god hunt,” where we sent the kids out to find hidden statues of the gods. Each one went home with an idol of their own—a gift to connect them with the stories of our people.

The second captures a determined 3-year-old crushing the hammer toss—proving you’re never too young to show your strength!

Before every game, we shared a tale from the lore that tied directly into the activity. Our goal was simple: educate, inspire, and create lasting memories. We want each child (and adult) to walk away with something meaningful—something that brings them closer to our shared heritage.

NEW EPISODE — The Bog — Aefinlogar w/ Mark Puryear

https://hearthfireradio.com/watch?v=dwurRpok

The Norroena Society produced one of the first truly academic level works on heathen religion with their book Aefinrunar, which reconstructs the ritual praxis of the Norse in detail. Now they have produced a new book Aefinlogar, which does the same for Norse law. Mark Puryear of the Norroena Society joins the Boglords for a discussion of Germanic law.

Germanic hieroglyphs?? 👀

Many folk know of the runes, the magical writing system of the north. Academic types will claim that the Germanic "stole" this writing system from their enemies the Romans, making Voluspa invalid. But is that really the truth?

These are the glyphs from the 'Golden Horns of Gallehus' one of which has a classic runic inscription on the rim, whilst the other does not, but both contain strange pictograms that don't make sense at first glance.

On this channel we have talked several times about how written language starts as pictorials (hieroglyphs) and becomes more abstract over time. The greek language is a great example of this, Linear A hieroglyphs simplify into Linear B abstract glyphs (heiratic if you will) which abstract further into an alphabetic script.

Is it possible that these horns preserve the prior form of the runes, germanic hieroglyphs if you will? If that is indeed the case it would disprove the atheist roman letter hypothesis and reveal new discoveries into the runes.

The Chauvet Cave, in Vallon-Pont-d'Arc, France has the earliest known Pagan Temple in Europe, dating 40,000 years.

Inside there are murals on the walls and ceilings, and at the back is an altar with the skull of an ice-age cave bear placed upon it.

It goes to show that temples go back a long ways, and as we rebuild these ancient faiths, hofs and temples to our sacred Gods, you are reconnecting to something so old it is ingrained in who we are.

Ares, the blood stained lord of courage and war
Alone I sat when the Old One sought me, the terror of Gods, and gazed in mine eyes: what hast thou to ask?

"Why comest thou hither? Odin, I know where thine eye is hidden."

I know where Odin's eye is hidden, deep in the wide-famed well of Mimir; mead from the pledge of Odin each mom does Mimir drink: would you know yet more?

- Voluspa - 28
"Now fare on the way where danger waits, let evils not lessen thy love!
I have stood at the door of the earth-fixed stones, the while I chanted thee charms.
Bear hence, my son, what thy mother hath said, and let it live in thy breast; thine ever shall be the best of fortune, so long as my words shall last."

Grógaldr - 15-16

It may seem strange, but the two characters 𐀟𐁊 is the old Linear B name for Apollo 👀

Many folk don't know that before the Ancient Greek Alphabet we know today, Linear B was the writing system of Bronze Age Greece, known as the Mycenaean civilization.

In all fairness, letters do make it easier for the commoner to become literate, but one can't deny the mystery and elegance of this ancient script.

The difference between Platonists and folkish pagans becomes very clear when you look at what their objections to Christianity are.

The Platonist objection to Christianity is that it subordinates reason to revelation and eternal truths to historical events. True religion should center on timeless metaphysical realities, like the eternal forms or "The Good", rather than on historical contingencies such as the incarnation or the resurrection. Christianity is too particular and not universal enough.

The folkish objection to Christianity is that it is a universalist and anti-tribal faith that undermines ethnic, cultural, and ancestral identity. It breaks with native traditions and replaces them with foreign ones. It is deracinating, globalizing, and spiritually homogenizing. It undermines rootedness, blood ties, and local customs. Christianity is too universal and not particular enough.

Platonism accepts Christianity's framing completely. Platonism sees how Christianity challenged and undermined ethnic religion and says that it didn't go far enough.

Platonism is the enemy of ethnic faiths and it is a mystery how it continues to have any association with paganism at all.
