نزدیک به هفتاد متن منتشر شده در این کتاب، بخشی از یک گروه بزرگتر از اسناد حقوقی (بابلی) پایان دورۀ هخامنشی از شاتر است، شهری که گمان می‌رود جایی در ناحیه شمال غربی اروک تا حومه نیپور بوده است.

کتاب همراه با مقدمه و نمایه‌های مختصر، شامل نویسه‌گردانی از متن‌هایی است که اکنون در موزه عراق نگهداری می‌شوند.

این آثار را مقامات اداره باستان‌شناسی عراق که از حفاری‌های غیرقانونی به‌دست آمده بود، مصادره کردند.

این آثار را می‌توان به‌عنوان اجزای معینی از بایگانی شمش زرو ایبنی پسر ایاناد، یک کارآفرین کشاورزی دانست که در نیمه دوم سدۀ پنجم پیش از میلاد در شهر شاتر بابل جنوبی و پیرامون آن فعالیت می‌کرد.
