🇪🇪 In some good news from the Baltics for once, the law which effectively bans the Estonian Orthodox Church (under Moscow Patriarchate) in Estonia, was rejected by the president of the republic, citing a “chilling effect inappropriate for a democratic society”.
While it is completely understandable to feel threatened by a much larger neighbour's actions in the neighbourhood, taking out on the church, which has repeatedly assured that they are not entirely on board with the Russian Patriarch's statements, and is praying for peace, is as petty as it is short-sighted, as that is one among many actions which lead to the war in the Ukraine.
Hopefully, the Parliament of Estonia finds something better to do with their time than to harass a church and a group of nuns in the countryside. As for now, this battle is over, yet the war against the Orthodox in the Baltics is not.

With the death of Pope Francis, thoughts and speculation will, we are sure, immediately jump to the identity of the Successor to St. Peter. So immediately, in fact, that we may forget the most important part of our identity: to pray for the here and now (Matt. 7: 34). We ask, then, for all of our followers to remember to pray firstly for the repose of the late Pope Francis, that he might rest in Christ's Peace, and secondly for the Holy Ghost to visit to those who will vote on the new Pope, that faith and wisdom, especially, may guide them in choosing a worthy Successor to St. Peter.
An additional curiosity to point out here is that there is an old folk belief about dying on Easter being a sign of God's goodwill. Make of it what you will.

The celebration of Easter is for many a testament on the reality of the spiritual realm. We mean of course, that during the Holy Week many notice a sudden increase in various temptations, events coming out of the left field meant to take us off balance in our spiritual struggle. You'd think that with the anticipation of the Holiest day of the Year would fill the faithful with a religious fervor so strong we would instead only see good things coming, yet the resistance we face is proof that it's not just in the mind. The spiritual warfare that is waged for every individual soul is real, it can be seen and felt.
It's important to remember than, the greatest trick the Devil has played on the world was convincing it that he does not exist. So when he is forced to tip his hand in such an obvious manner, it's a true sign that we're on the right track. Saints often lament when their struggle is eased, thinking themselves to have strayed off the path if the Enemy lets up his assault.
Let us take comfort then in our struggles, as we prepare to greet the Resurrected Christ; so long as we continue to struggle, He will continue to grant us the Grace to rise up, however many times we are knocked down.

Today is Palm Sunday, a very curious episode in the Gospel story. It is the triumphant return of the King into His Capital. Crowds come out cheering, laying palm leaves and their own clothes to pave the way for Christ on His humble colt. The Hebrews at the time were expecting a roaring lion, and didn't not know yet that they were given a sacrificial lamb; they expected Christ to vanquish and subdue other nations for their benefit, and did not know that He would soon trample death itself as they cry out "Crucify Him!". Oftentimes, we are like the cheering crowd - ready to support Christ in word at the peak of His power, yet ready to betray Him when the going gets tough.
Let us persevere in the final stretch of the Lenten season, and to keep that perseverance with us throughout the year. Let us keep the image of Christ as a glorious King of all the universe in our hearts, let us keep that joy. While He seems to us now as a gentle lamb, His true nature is indeed of a roaring mighty lion, He will return as one, and He commands us to be as brave as Him even as we walk into the maw of doom.
Let us persevere in the final stretch of the Lenten season, and to keep that perseverance with us throughout the year. Would abortion be as high as it was if fathers were not competing with cheap imported labor? Women joined the workforce because of the increased cost of living; if immigrants were fighting for our resources, there wouldn't be as many women in the workforce. Married with Children = The Most Happiness, especially in older ages. The common argument used against modern nations and women's happiness in relation to marriage, families and children is generally an economic one. The reality is 1 woman who bears even 2-4 children (statistically 1-2 will be sons) will create a far greater immediate economic contribution to the Nation than working her entire life (in an average capacity), and historically speaking she will do this while upholding our most pious traditions within her family and community.

Came across an interesting 100-year-old book which discusses the differences between the jews and gentiles, written by a jewish supremacist. In particular, Europeans and Americans are depicted as childlike, naive and backward, as opposed to the jews' serious and mature demeanor. This difference causes the jews to be seen as 'destroyers' and 'subverters' of European culture and society. The book concludes with the thought that there can never be peace between the jews and gentiles until the last European state has "lost its racial homogeneity".

For those of us celebrating in the west, Happy Valentines day! Whilst this holiday has changed under secular western governments, remember that Saint Valentine is one of our glorious martyrs. He was a Roman priest who lived during the reign of Emperor Claudius II. Claudius outlawed marriage for young men, believing that single men made better soldiers. Valentine, seeing this as unjust, continued to perform secret weddings, leading to his imprisonment. In prison he healed the judge Asterius' daughter. Asterius converted and then freed all of the Christians in his prison. Saint Valentine continued to evangelize and was arrested again, before his execution he left a note to Asterius' daughter signed "from your Valentine." He entered into martyrdom on February 14, 269.
