Her patients discover this firsthand, sparking powerful word-of-mouth PR. 'If a product’s good, you don’t need ads—people will talk,' Dr. Hazan emphasizes. When patients see no results and share their experiences, it spreads. She doesn’t aim to destroy companies but to hold them accountable. 'Someone’s paying attention,' she says, 'and patients tell others.' This forces companies to rethink their methods.

Dr. Hazan also questions yogurt’s reputation. 'A study linked yogurt to lower colon cancer rates, but they didn’t test the yogurt or the patients’ microbiomes,' she points out. Loss of bifidobacteria is tied to invasive cancer, yet even the 'right' yogurt may not help. Why? 'It’s more complicated,' she explains. Drinking a gallon of kefir doesn’t guarantee it implants in your gut. External factors—like fluoride in water—can kill microbes before they settle. 'If I take probiotics with fluoridated water, I’ve just undone it,' she warns.

Everything impacts the microbiome: air, stress, even skin creams. Dr. Hazan urges diligence but offers simple advice: 'If you’re healthy, survived the pandemic, and feel good—keep doing what works. Your gut knows.' Testing isn’t always needed when instinct aligns with results."
