Seems this Council are quietly removing opportunities for independent businesses to start up or to locate to 😡
"We want to see housing on this location and the building brought back into use..."
It's quite clear their intent otherwise they'd have refused permission for this & ordered the Councillor at fault to reverse what's been done.
It appears they have their own plan to remove things they do not want, regardless of what the community wants or needs.

Oh, & the same old playbook of "the only way to bring it back into use is to convert to residential..."
Coun John Hanson said: “If this just gets knocked back, the building is going to stand empty. We already have enough empty properties."
But when you understand they don't want small independent businesses operating you'll realise why they're removing small retail units.

It's no secret they want people to enlist to fight a war nobody wants. But what better way to coerce people into it by showing the place they want you to fight for promoted as something beneficial to you.
Plus, by saying the ingredients are sourced locally, they're saying that it's local people/farms who have gone to the effort to make this happen.
So if you went against it, they would imply you'd be going against local people/farms etc i.e. turning against your own people.
