For those asking, the photos from this weekend were taken from the village of Caldbeck on a hike to Roughton Gill (excellent place for hunting rare crystals and minerals!! 💎)
I highly recommend the area for a glimpse of untouched rural (and very white) England, taking a route through the following little villages and hamlets: Mungrisdale, Bowscale, Mosedale, Carrock Fell, Calebreck, Haltcliff bridge, Sowerby Row, Ivegill, Uldale, Wigton (visit Mae’s school house tea rooms), Fell side, Caldbeck, Hesket Newmarket. 🏴

From a friends private post copied from FB, at the back of my mind, the fragility of our extremely complex but totally energy dependent systems does freak me out if I dwell on it.
“That was a bit scary!
WTF! POWER OUTAGE!
Across 3 countries!!!
Until you’re country loses all power you really don’t fully understand all the ways this impacts you!
For me that meant power and water was out and I live on the 3rd floor.
I was one of the lucky ones as I have a campervan but I didn’t have water, my fuel was empty but thankfully I always have a full 5 litre Jerry can - because I couldn’t buy diesel because I didn’t have any cash!!!
I was able to drive to a drinking water spring water tap to fill up 60 litres of drinking water for my campervan and carried 3 bags of stuff down 3 flights of stairs and filled up my campervan fridge with food from my apartment.
Internet kept totally dropping and normal phone service were down, satellite for maps was down - which is a massive problem when your new to a country!
As I drove around police cars where zipping around as heavens doors opened up to looters and thieves!
With people stuck in elevators (if I’d come back from the beach 30 mins earlier Bella and I could have been stuck in our building’s elevator!!).
I started to feel pretty freaked out at one point as the enormity of the situation hit me and the question as to WHY this was happening…
I now realise my rig, my set up with my campervan could become a target for desperate people if the power doesn’t go back on as most of the cooking equipment in the homes is electric!! No one can cook! No one can charge anything!!! So our fully off grid homes on wheels will be very much desired and when people get desperate they take extreme measures and justify it as ‘survival’!!!!
So I knew I had to get remote to be safe but without maps working I couldn’t find my way to my friends off grid land…
Thankfully this was a WARNING!
Power has apparently come back on in the Algarve - I’m still in my campervan parked up at a beach with other Vanlifers so I’ve no idea if my home has power again, others say they have power back so fingers crossed.
This highlighted what I’ve been saying for a long time, we are FRAGILE! We are soooo co dependent on systems!!! And I do not want to be! Which is why I built my campervan and lived fully off grid last summer, to harden myself up to living without these co dependent conditions, so I’m much more prepared than most but this showed me I CANNOT drop the ball! I messed up! My tank was not full, I didn’t have any cash and my water reservoir was empty!!! No way that’s happening again!!! Lesson/warning learnt!
Let this be a warning to us all!
One day power will go, water won’t reach many homes, WiFi goes, phone reception goes and shops can’t serve us as everything has gone digital !!! If you don’t have cash your fucked!
Get a black out emergency pack made up, canned foods, dried foods, nuts etc. Don’t let your vehicle tank run empty, have candles and some back up fuel and water in your home and cash!!!!!”

After reading a recent article on Labour's plans to build 1.5 million homes, here's my penny's worth.
1. Who are they for, we have had a declining birthrate for decades.. so these new homes are not for the native Brits they are to accommodate immigrants. Over 2 million in just the last 2 years, these people have to live somewhere, we can't make them all live in Birmingham now they've managed to reduce it to a cross between Delhi and a bombed out afghan village.
2. All environmental safeguards have been scrapped, they can legaly tear down ancient woodland, desecrate meadows, wetlands and areas of scientific interest, not to mention areas of historical significance. They care less about the environment than they do about you, and trust me, they despise you.
3. They plan on picking the sites for these new smart city's or 20 minute towns in secret, using subtifuge in order to buy agricultural land with no planning consent at rock bottom prices and then just granting themselves permission to build a city or town. All of these conurbations will be equipped with the necessary agenda 30 requirements. Shops, schools, entertainment, health care, not forgetting the 5g CCTV etc, so there is no reason you would have to travel, or indeed ever leave the area. Sounds a lot like a prison to me.
3. 40% of these homes will be for social housing, the reason for that is to supply homes to the ever increasing immigrant population that do not work. These people will probably never work in a society that is becoming ever more automated. They have simply arrived here enmasse to get handed everything for free, including a new home.
4. Who will build these new homes? Our new AI encouraging labour government says a lot of this building won't be done by traditional construction workers, they will be mass produced in factories probably staffed by redundant bricklayers then erected on site like your IKEA wardrobe. Once that ball gets rolling, say goodbye to those traditional building jobs, yet another raft of skills will be lost to the new technological age.
5. Who's paying for this? Well property developers and huge house building firms will certainly play their part, but they hate building shops, social housing, schools, those things don't bring in the profit like a stack of rabbit hutch sized homes. That is what they'll build, it won't be pleasant or anything that is aesthetically pleasing to the eye, the word beauty is utterly foreign to them. As is always the case, the majority of the cost will be covered by YOU the ever loyal tax paying worker. You will literally be paying for the destruction of your country and the settlement of the people being shipped here to replace you.
6. Do you get a say in this? No, you get to pay for it and if you dare complain or protest or even disagree, well you must be one of those far right neo fascist trouble makers, more commonly known as an English man. There is a little cell waiting for people like you, so just keep your head down, your mouth shut and put up with the hell they are designing for you.
