With this Woden weoh I wanted to concentrate on the detailing of the eye. Made from ash, I felt it was important to make it as lifelike as possible and to appear as he is watching with an analytical mind at all times.
This one ended up being traded with Dan from the Fyrgen for a signed album that I listen to pretty much daily at this point, as well as a few other bits and pieces.

A great thing about giving your carvings away is that after gifting them you can forget that something you laboured over for hours even existed, so to see it again is a joy. This is one such carving that I recently came across that I haven't seen in a couple of years whilst visiting family.
I can see lots of mistakes and I've come a long way since carving this piece but it gives me the warm and fuzzies still.
This piece was a birch branch taken from the garden that it now resides in and has outlasted the original tree which sadly succumbed to disease.
