In keeping with this train of thought, I have read several different accounts of giants being housed underground beneath the pentagon. At first I thought it was outlandish and dismissed it. Correct — in the Bible, "Israel" was first a man, not a country.
1. The Origin: Israel = Jacob
In Genesis 32:28, God says to Jacob:
> "Thy name shall be called no more Jacob, but Israel: for as a prince hast thou power with God and with men, and hast prevailed."
So Israel begins as a title of spiritual identity — a man who wrestled with God and prevailed.
2. From Man to People
Israel's twelve sons became the Twelve Tribes of Israel, forming the House of Israel.
In biblical terms, "Israel" referred to the covenant family, not a geopolitical state.
3. Later: Kingdom of Israel
Only centuries later — under Saul, David, and Solomon — did the House of Israel become a kingdom.
Even then, it eventually split into two houses:
House of Israel (10 northern tribes)
House of Judah (2 southern tribes)
4. Modern Misuse
The modern nation-state called Israel (established 1948) is often conflated with biblical Israel, but they are not the same.
Biblical Israel was spiritual, tribal, and covenantal — not a modern political construct.
In essence:
Biblical Israel = a man → a family → a covenant people.
