Finished! A pencil drawing of “Der Fackelträger (English: Torch bearer), a detached sculpture created in 1936 by the German sculptor Jakob Wilhelm “Willy” Meller, located at the Sonnenwendplatz (solstice place) Ordensburg (literally “Castle of military order”) Vogelsang.
This was a complex located within the former military training area of Vogelsang in the Eifel National Park in North Rhine-Westphalia.
The raised torch is a reference to the ancient Greek myth of Prometheus bringing fire to mankind. It fits in with the symbolism of light and was politically reinterpreted as the flame symbolised the rebirth of the nation through the victory.
The inscription on the wall reads: “Ihr seid die Fackelträger der Nation - Ihr trägt das Licht des Geistes voran im Kampfe für ((unreadable)).”
Blocks containing the words Fackelträger & Austrian Painter have been replaced. The statue also suffered considerable damage during the postwar military occupation.

This was a complex located within the former military training area of Vogelsang in the Eifel National Park in North Rhine-Westphalia.
The raised torch is a reference to the ancient Greek myth of Prometheus bringing fire to mankind. It fits in with the symbolism of light and was politically reinterpreted as the flame symbolised the rebirth of the nation through the victory.
The inscription on the wall reads: “Ihr seid die Fackelträger der Nation - Ihr trägt das Licht des Geistes voran im Kampfe für ((unreadable)).”
Blocks containing the words Fackelträger & Austrian Painter have been replaced. The statue also suffered considerable damage during the postwar military occupation.

On February 28, 1975, a young man whose name would become a legend for all European Nationalists was killed by a communist bullet during a cowardly attack on the offices of MSI - DN at 7 Otaviano Street.
He was the Greek student, Mikis Mantakas, just 22 years old, a member of FUAN, the “fighter of Europe”.
A few days after Miki’s assassination in Rome, thousands of his Italian fellow fighters gathered for the first political memorial dedicated to him and shouted the slogan:
“You killed the man, not the Idea.”
Since then, every year on February 28th, nationalists from all over Europe gather in front of the scene of his assassination in Piazza Risorgimento, which has been informally renamed Piazza Mantakas.
At 19:00, hundreds of hands are raised in salute.
Absolute silence prevails, even tourists feel the metaphysics of the moment.
Suddenly a voice shouts “Mikis Mantakas” and hundreds respond :
“Presente, Presente, Presente.”
