Today the crowds clamored around Him, declaring as he entered Jerusalem "Hosanna to the son of David: Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord: Hosanna in the highest."
Now, it is evening, and He has hidden Himself, for in his Eternal ear He already hears the Jews cry as one "We have a law; and according to the law he ought to die, because he made himself the Son of God."
Now we begin to await the end. For some, like the Jews, it will be a relief, for our penances will no longer trouble us, just as they thought themselves to be rid of Jesus. For others, it will be a new birth, when the converted life, wrought in contrition and penance, is put to the test, and we find if we can live up to the standard Our Lord has set up for us upon the Cross.
May we bring forth much fruit this Holy Week, that we may rejoice in the beginning of a life remade, and not merely in the end of the demands of Lent.

Lent always seems a time of our greatest crosses - and these are often in retrospect or viewed from outside ourselves the most minor inconveniences, which prevent us from doing what we desire or what gives us a measure of worldly satisfaction. They are also signs of God's tremendous Mercy and Love of us, that He never ceases to send us opportunities and means of penance for our many sins, known and unknown, of word and of deed, committed in knowledge and in ignorance, and to cleanse us of the filth and soil we gather as we make our way through life and the world. Thank God for these, for I could never plan such penance for myself!
I have promised to complete Series 14 and begin immediately in the new Series, and sadly life and circumstances intervened. I will record and publish episode 30 of the Decade this week and then begin next week anew with the next series, which will reflect on sin and the means God gives us to overcome it and atone for it in our daily lives. In the meanwhile, I beg your forgiveness for the interruption. Thank you, truly, to all of you for your patience as I'm sure you have wondered if I just gave up and walked away again (I haven't). God love you!

Today is First Friday! God so loved the world that He sent His only begotten Son - now is the appropriate time to learn to love God as He has loved you!
If you can attend Mass today, and choose not to, you ignore a tremendous gift Our Lord Himself has given us from His Sacred Heart. Do not turn back from the graces and merits of the First Friday!
If you cannot attend Mass, keep a Holy Hour before the Exposed Sacrament or recite the Litany of the Sacred Heart alone or with your family. Or simply make the prayer when you arise or when you go to sleep: "Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, Thy Kingdom come!"
The Heart of God burns with love for us; come and let us warm ourselves by the fire in the midst of a cold and unforgiving world!

Sadly I have had a number of personal issues arise that are keeping me from recording this week. I want to make sure everyone prays, however, for all who have asked for prayers.
Please pray for Val's father, who has been placed on oxygen and has declined in strength.
Pray an Itinerarium for the family of Stuka, who are travelling this week
Pray for the women encountered by Teresa who celebrate their barrenness and spinsterhood, and for all the barren and spinsters, especially those by choice.
Please continue to pray for the soul of Carol's brother Arthur, who was called before the throne unexpectedly.
Pray for George's stepfather, who has entered the advanced stages of Alzheimer's and has double pneumonia
Pray for John's family, who have been afflicted with flu, and especially his young daughter who was sick enough for a hospital visit.
Pray for me, and for all my listeners, for all their intentions.
