Runway Declared Distances Explained

Understanding TODA, TORA, ASDA, and Clearway/Stopway is crucial for performance calculations. Here's what they mean:

➡TORA (Takeoff Run Available) - The length of the runway declared available for takeoff.

➡ TODA (Takeoff Distance Available) - TORA + any Clearway available beyond the runway.

➡ASDA (Accelerate-Stop Distance Available) - The sum of TORA + any Stopway for rejected takeoff scenarios.

➡Clearway - An area beyond the runway free of obstacles, allowing for continued takeoff if needed.

➡Stopway - A paved area beyond the runway designed to help stop the aircraft during an aborted takeoff.

Knowing these values ensures safe takeoffs and landings!

In Tehran city Best morning to see Mercury


The planet Mercury reaches its greatest western elongation of 27° on April 21.

Mornings within about a week of this time will be your best opportunities to view the magnitude +0.3 planet in the predawn sky.

At 04:26, Mercury will emerge in the east and reach 12° above the horizon by sunrise, quickly fading into the brightening sky.

Western elongation as seen from an elevated orbital perspective

Mercury's orbit is interior to the Earth's and close enough to the Sun that it never wanders far from the Sun in our sky. On most nights Mercury rises or sets so close to the Sun that it's impossible to spot. Only near times of maximum elongation-angle between planet and Sun in the sky-does Mercury remain above the horizon after the sky becomes dark.

In the Southern Hemisphere:

Surface wind is anticlockwise around a high, and clockwise around a low.

Why does the Northern Hemisphere experience summer while the Southern Hemisphere faces winter? It's all about Earth's axial tilt!

Key Facts:

The Earth is tilted at 66.5° to the ecliptic (23.5° from vertical). During Northern Summer, the Tropic of Cancer receives direct sunlight.

The Arctic Circle sees 24 hours of daylight, while the Antarctic Circle remains in darkness.

This tilt causes unequal solar radiation, creating the seasons!

Remember: It's not about distance from the Sun-it's all about the angle of solar incidence.

Icing hazards increase significantly when flying within or near towering cumulonimbus clouds, especially in the 0°C to -20°C zone.

Key points:

• Updraughts lift liquid water droplets to high altitudes.

• Between 0°C and -20°C, clouds can hold super-cooled water droplets, which freeze instantly on aircraft surfaces.

• Above -20°C, ice crystals dominate, reducing icing risk-but turbulence remains intense!

Avoid flying through the core of CB clouds, especially between FL100 and FL250, where icing is most severe and unpredictable.
