The Shapiro interview with Zelensky demonstrated that Zelensky is more or less a generic centrist politician who has no sophisticated worldview beyond "defender of Ukraine".
He was asked specifically about culture war issues (trans, abortion, etc.) that conservatives have latched onto to smear Ukraine and glorify Russia, and he had essentially no comment on them and took no stance for or against those issues. Standard centrism, he doesn't want to offend anyone.
But this is not what this war is about. Whatever your stance is on those issues, they are issues for Ukraine to decide internally once the occupiers are off their soil. Their focus right now is survival as a nation/culture and not whether men or women should be able to mutilate their genitals. Obviously, I am personally against wokeism and the left and hope Ukraine takes the national conservative path after the war, but centering those topics in the context of this war is a red herring distraction.
Zelensky, Poroshenko, Klitschko, Tymoshenko, none of these politicians really matter here - politicians come and go. What matters is that the sovereignty of a European country has been ruthlessly violated by Putin's rape troops and that must end.
The other battles are for another day.
