блядські питання про студентське фінансування настільки зайобують що я написала студентській підтримці Кардіффського університету з приблизним меседжем "я ваша оферхоолдерка допоможіть мені розібратися з цією залупою якщо хочете щоб я до вас пішла".
на цій же ноті, сьогодні мені підтвердили home student status (тобто що я плачу втричі менше грошей і можу отримати фінансування). Це хороші новини, але в мене bad brain day, тому я процесую це як новини про те, що час розрібати ще більше лайна.

Currently sitting at the English department common room at uni. I'm in a weird mood and having thoughts about life and the future.
Suddenly my eye catches "The Oxford Annotated Bible" on the bookshelf. I, a bitter atheist, in my existential distress, reach for it, thinking: "Okay well can't hurt to look at the wisdom that Jesus has for me or whatever". I take the book, close my eyes, reach out to the divine, open it at the page that calls to my soul.
I open my eyes and read it.
"Anthropology n. Study of the origins and customs of mankind.
Anthropomorphic a. attributing human form or personality to a god, animal, etc."
...what?
In my lack of depth perception I accidentally grabbed "The Oxford Guide to the English language" and opened it at the dictionary section.
Other words on the page that the UNIVERSE pointed me towards include "antifreeze", "anti-Semitic", "anxiety", "anyhow" and "aphrodiziac".

My unpopular, most boomer opinion which I will voice for no reason other than that I've taken my sleeping pills and then gone on Tumblr dot com is that we cannot, in fact, keep adding letters to the LGBTQ acronym. I just saw "LGBTQIAP+" and like. No. That's not how that's done.
Yes, LGBT isn't sufficient. LGBTQ expands it with the catch-all "queer" but there are people in the community who don't like the reclamation of the word "queer". Sure. So we added the PLUS. And you know what the PLUS means? "Everything else" is what it means. WE DON'T HAVE TO ADD MORE LETTERS. THE PLUS DOES THAT. IF WE ADD MORE LETTERS WE NEVER STOP AND AN ACRONYM JUST BECOMES COUNTERPRODUCTIVE.
And THEN we come to the question of "well why to L G B and T people get their own letter and the rest don't" and then we come to the question of "who do we consider part of the community and why" and the answer is basically everyone who feels like they need it and then it doesn't MATTER what specific words they use to describe their identity. And THEN we go into the "do we even need l
the labels" territory and as a lover of labels and carrier of like 15 I don't know how to navigate it yet.
And what I'm basically saying is that the MOGAI (marginalized orientations, gender identities, and intersex) people started out with getting it RIGHT and then they, of course, got lost in the sauce completely.
And that's why I think we should just use the word "queer" at this point to be honest.

You know, being Ukrainian is really fucking fun nowadays.
First you hear from people that the invasion of your country was justified — after all, invading an unrelated state because of NATO expansion makes perfect sense.
Then a person from a country with literal fascist parties having significant support of a general population starts telling you that your country has a massive nazi problem, which is why you don't deserve support. That massive nazi problem is, of course, represented in the Ukrainian government, where far-right parties score roughly 0 seats.
Let's unwind and see how the world of culture is doing. Photography? A picture of a Ukrainian child in a bomb shelter is considered a great pair to a picture of an injured ruski who came here to kill her family, loot her house and abduct her to russia. Movies? Literal russian propaganda being shown on festivals because “we need to hear both sides”. All of this while russians are destroying your culture both metaphorically via appropriation and literally with bullets and bomb shells.
Self-absorbed asshole on the other side of the world signs a death sentence for both Ukrainian soldiers and civilians because apparently your president didn’t thank him enough. After all, withholding military shipments and intelligence is a perfectly valid move when someone has mildly annoyed you.
Well, the night comes. If you live in a major city, you might as well not bother with going to sleep — either air raid sirens or explosions will soon wake you up, as they have almost every single night for the past year.
You’ve got a lot to think about — russians have launched a ballistic missile into a residential area once again. There were no military targets nearby. However, there was a playground. Six kids that had dreams, loving families and plans for tomorrow are now laying on the ground dead. Many more, including a three-months-old infant, are currently in hospitals, where doctors are fighting for their lives.
I want to scream.
