Independent of the framing of Russia and Ukraine across the German far right, my analysis reveals important similarities between either imaginary.

First, both imaginaries are deeply racist and/or white supremacist. Unlike in the so-called European migration crisis of 2015/16, all actors welcomed war refugees from Ukraine in Germany and Europe, framing them as ‘real refugees’. Yet, they spread conspiracy narratives that the war essentially served non-whites as an opportunity to enter Germany. According to this story, the entire process was orchestrated by political elites and ultimately aimed at the ‘Great Replacement’ of European societies.

Second, both imaginaries include the projection of a future Europe as a fortress independent from both Russia and the US. The pro-Russian editor of Compact magazine, Jürgen Elsässer, repeatedly expressed his hope for the war to incite a new geopolitical era of a bloc-free world and new security landscape in Europe. Similarly, as early as 25 February 2022, the pro-Ukrainian III. Weg proclaimed that ‘Our answer to the question of Washington or Moscow, West or East, can only be: Europe!’, and painted the positive future vision of ‘the freedom of the European peoples from all foreign empires, the defence of their own identity and the vision of a united Europe’.

Thus, Russia’s war in Ukraine has (so far) not split the right-wing camp, as Martin Sellner dreaded in early 2022. Instead, the tensions between different geopolitical positions appear to have been superseded by the scene’s shared Eurocentric racism.

Pierre Sidos’s L’Œuvre Française came closest to replicating the ideas of Jeune Nation and Occident, in both of which Sidos had played a leading role. Through its organ Le Soleil, L’Œuvre Française proclaimed its opposition to ‘Washington, Moscow and Tel-Aviv’, locating itself ‘at the cutting edge of the nationalist struggle, and of anti-Zionist and anti-Marxist action within the French nation’. It was pointedly anti-Semitic and authoritarian, counting Drumont, Maurras, Brasillach, Drieu La Rochelle and Bardèche among its ideological reference points and Franco, Salazar and Pétain among its political models. L’Œuvre Française also anticipated the FN in its slogan ‘La France aux Français’ (‘France for the French’), which it daubed on walls alongside Sidos’s trademark Celtic cross.

Shields mentions his interview with PF founder Thomas Rousseau, saying that he liked that Rousseau was building community and improving the lives of men of the organization.

Reilly then goes into detail about the events surrounding the arrest of Patriot Front activists in Idaho. Zach Schoeffstall recognized that the FBI warrant for PF's electronic communications had no probable cause and was subsequently dismissed by staff of the Biden administration. His replacement, a homosexual, approved the warrant and is alleged to have leaked the contents to the SPLC by Reilley, although no corroborating evidence for this particular claim has been found.

The prosecutor in the Idaho case, Wes Somerton, was then found by a judge to have engaged in prosecutorial misconduct, Youngblood violations, and Brady violations. Somerton left his role as a prosecutor shortly after.

PARMA – In the traditionally left-wing northern Italian region of Emilia Romagna, the recent triumph of a neo-fascist student movement in school elections is the latest sign of radical responses to social problems and further evidence that traditional political parties are losing their grip on the democratic process.

More than 600 students at Galilei high school, in the town of San Secondo Parmense, elected members of the radical right group Blocco Studentesco (Students’ Block) as their four student body representatives. The students’ movement is connected with Casa Pound.

This is the first time that a social right-wing group has had such a clear victory in the once Communist region of Emilia Romagna.

Further south, students groups close to Casa Pound and the Students’ Block have also won some recent school elections in Rome.
