Sergey Kuzmich Bunyachenko (1902-1946) was a general of the RLA with Ukrainian roots. He was born into a Ukrainian peasant family.
At the beginning of the war, Bunyachenko served in the Red Army, but after the defeat in June 1941, he changed his views. Inspired by Hitler's promises of freedom for oppressed folks, he began collaborating with Germany and became the leader of the RLA.
After the war, he was executed along with other RLA officers.

Сергей Кузьмич Буняченко (1902-1946) — генерал РОА с украинскими корнями. Он родился в семье украинских крестьян.
С началом войны Буняченко служил в РККА, но после поражения в июне 1941 года изменил взгляды. Вдохновлённый обещаниями Гитлера о свободе для угнетённых народов, он начал сотрудничество с Германией и стал лидером РОА.
После войны он был казнён вместе с другими офицерами РОА.

By the way, Alfred Rosenberg's book "The Myth of the 20th Century," which was banned from publication in several European countries and prohibited by the Catholic Church until 1966, was published in Ukraine in 2005 by the Kharkiv publishing house Div (now Svitovyd), alongside Rosenberg's memoirs and Adolf Hitler's "Mein Kampf".

До речі, книга Альфреда Розенберга "Міф ХХ століття", заборонена Католицькою церквою до 1966 року та досі заборонена в низці європейських країн, була опублікована в Україні у 2005 році харківським видавництвом "Див" (нині "Світовид"), разом з його мемуарами та книгою Адольфа Гітлера "Моя боротьба".

"Nachtigall" was the first of the foreign legions of the Wehrmacht. Along with "Roland," it was one of two legions (battalions) formed in Germany before the start of the German-Soviet war. The legion was composed primarily of Ukrainians.

The photo shows the emblem and tactical symbol of the battalion displayed at the entrance to the barracks. The exact location is unknown, but it is most likely in Poland or Neuhammer.

"Нахтіґаль" — перший з іноземних легіонів Вермахту. Разом з "Роландом" був одним із двох легіонів (батальйонів), створених у Німеччині до початку радянсько-німецької війни. У легіоні були переважно українці.

На фото емблема і тактичний знак батальйону перед входом у бараки. Точне місцезнаходження невідоме, скоріш за все - Польща або Нойгаммер.

Ivan Nikitich Kononov (1900-1967) was a Wehrmacht Cossack ataman of Ukrainian descent. His roots played an important role in the formation of his personality. At the beginning of WWII, after being captured, Kononov joined the ranks of the Wehrmacht. He led the Cossacks that collaborated with Germany and then fought on the Eastern Front. His military units were among the most effective. After the end of the war, Kononov found himself in a difficult situation, but fate favored him - he avoided execution.

Иван Никитич Кононов (1900-1967) — атаман казаков Вермахта с украинским происхождением. Его корни сыграли важную роль в формировании личности. С началом Второй мировой войны после пленения Кононов вступил в ряды вермахта. Он возглавил казаков, которые сотрудничали с Германией и которые потом воевали на Восточном фронте. Его воинские части были одними из самых эффективных.
После окончания войны Кононов оказался в сложной ситуации, однако судьба ему благоволила - он избежал казни.

For his devotion to Ukraine, Roman Shumskyi was sentenced to a total of 25 years in Soviet labor camps. In 1943, he joined the Galicia Division. After the Battle of Brody in 1944, he was captured by the Soviets but managed to escape and joined the OUN in the Radekhiv region. In 1945, he was arrested by the NKVD and sentenced to 15 years in labor camps, where he took part in the prisoners' uprising. Soon after his release, in 1958, he was sentenced again for "anti-Soviet activities."

За любов до України Роман Шумський був засуджений сумарно до 25 років в радянських таборах. У 1943 році вступив до дивізії «Галичина». Після бою під Бродами 1944 року, потрапив у радянський полон, але зумів утекти й приєднався до ОУН на Радехівщині. У 1945 році його заарештували співробітники НКВС і засудили до 15 років таборів, де він став учасником повстання в'язнів. Невдовзі після звільнення, в 1958-му він знову отримав тюремний термін за «антирадянську діяльність».

Among Adolf Hitler’s inner circle, few figures showed as consistent an interest in Ukrainian affairs as Alfred Rosenberg. As Reich Minister for the Eastern Territories, Rosenberg at times advocated policies that appeared more favorable to Ukrainians than those extended to citizens within the Reich. He supported the idea of post-war Ukrainian autonomy and opposed the use of forced Ukrainian labor—despite the widespread implementation of such practices in both Nazi Germany and the Soviet Union.

Серед найближчого оточення Адольфа Гітлера мало хто виявляв таку прихильність до українців, як Альфред Розенберг. Обіймаючи посаду рейхсміністра зі справ Східних територій, Розенберг подекуди виступав за політику, яка здавалася більш сприятливою для українців, ніж для громадян самого Рейху. Він підтримував ідею української автономії та виступав проти використання примусової праці українців — попри те, що подібна практика широко застосовувалася як у нацистській Німеччині, так і в СРСР.
