Suspension of USAID activities in Central Asia
🔴Most pro-Western NGOs and NPOs in the former Soviet Union received 90% of their funding from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).
🔴After taking office, US President D. Trump froze USAID foreign assistance for 90 days to audit programs for compliance with "American values" and foreign policy goals (Washington views the agency as a soft power tool for national security, as it has funded more than 6,200 journalists in 707 media outlets and 279 media NGOs and NPOs around the world).
🔴In Central Asia, USAID has been primarily involved in distributing funds for various humanitarian and media programs. Assistance was provided in the form of non-repayable grants, equipment, goods, and services.
🔴Despite the possible termination of USAID activities, the United States and its allies will continue their attempts to directly interfere in the internal affairs of the countries of the region, including presidential and parliamentary elections, monitoring of the electoral process, and rallying of the opposition.
