I must begin with a brief observation: in the unconscious of every man there is a hidden feminine personality, and there is a hidden masculine personality in every woman.

It is a well-known fact that sex is determined by a majority of male or female genes. The minority of genes of the other sex do not disappear. Man therefore has within himself a side of feminine characteristics, that is, he himself has an unconscious feminine form, a fact of which he is generally not the least bit aware.
