Change in the body can be effected by the emotions, change in the emotions can be effected by the thoughts, change in the thoughts can be effected by the breath which focuses one's whole being on a single point thus settling the mind which settles the emotions which settles the body.

Wassail!
Drink Hale!
Glad Yule Eve to you all.
My family is currently sick at the moment and will be doing something more simple tomorrow, but nonetheless this is truly a time to be happy, appreciate what we have, and share it with the ones we love. The Jólnar (Gods) are truly great and beneficent to bless us with all we have and I am particularly thankful for my loving wife and my smart and handsome children. I don't have a lot of money or other things like that, but I have a loyal and loving family with a great relationship and that means the world to me. So, this Yule I thank Jólnir and all the Jólnar for that most valuable part of my life, and humbly ask for the continuance of this blessed thing and the means to further develop myself in order to best move forward in honor of the Gods, the Elves, my family, my Folk, and myself.
May the Jólnar grant you a beautiful, bright, and abundant new year 🙏🏻

Our 2025 OTNR Greek and Romanic Pagan Religious Calendar and our 2025 OTNR Germanic Pagan Religious Calendar were ordered with the printing company last week. They should arrive in the mail next week (Jan 6 - Jan 10) and appear in our Etsy store at that time. We will send out a link at that time.
I am very excited about some of the aesthetic updates (new pictures, font improvement, etc.) I made to the calendars, as well as how I have notated the public feriae and ill-omened days of the Roman calendar this year.

This is why our Folk should begin with gratitude, understanding just how much our Forebears kept of their true language, and then proceed to further move back towards a greater revival of folkish language. This does not mean we need to necessarily speak Old Norse, Old English, etc (although one can and it has benefits it some circumstances), but to get back to the root of our language. This is why I support the development of "Anglish," or the like, for English speakers. This is not a simple task and modern language is not so easily shifted in that regard (especially considering the masses move with the imposed language shifts stemming from the almost completely illiterate foreign elements that continue to take our once great language and urinate on it, giving it back to us tainted - and yet many even within "our" groups still use such language!).
Language is one of the foundational elements of humanity, as expressed in Voluspa with the word læti with a manifold meaning), and as such deserves such special attention. This will be a process with some going too hard to quickly and some not going hard enough if you will. In the end if we all maintain our focus we can succeed in reinvigorating the flame at the root of our language and thus better connect with our Forebears and the Gods allowing us to leave a better world for our children.

The word alchemy is believed to stem from PIE *ǵʰew- meaning "to pour." Germanic language did not form words from the root form *ǵʰew- but rather from an extension of it *ǵʰewd- which holds the same meaning. In Germanic we have the PIE root yielding words such as:
• Old English - ġēotan = "to pour, shed blood/tears/sweat, cast metals."
• Old Norse - gjóta = "to pour, to cast, to spawn."
What is most fascinating is that the Odinic name Gautr is derived from gjóta and yields the meaning "He from Whom Man Pours Forth." In this station He is the Divine Progenitor outwardly viewed as Gaut of the Gautar (Goths) and indeed to a great extent they are viewed as the fountainhead of our Folk with their name even being used to refer to an exceptional warrior "the brave Goth of the sword, sent his enemies to Hel."
I also find the correlation between Gautr and alchemy fascinating in the sense that indeed He is a practitioner of that inner alchemical work many recognize today as can be glimpsed in the Hávamál.

Marriage is the sacred covenant decreed by natural law through which man and woman unite to produce progeny and ensure the existence of the race.
It long predates the sects of abrahamism of which the followers suffer from the conceited delusion that anything just and morally upright came to be with its (abrahamism) advent, and that anything before it was depraved and impure.
Germanic and Hellenic pagans were honorable, family-oriented folk, who respected their ancestral gods and lived in accordance to natural order:
"The marriage code is very strict and honorable among the Germans and no virtue of their morality deserves higher praise than this. The men are unique among nations in being satisfied with only one wife." — Tacitus, Germania
“Make plans to get married (Γαμεῖν μέλλε)” — Delphic Maxims
“He (Pythagoras) also saw (when he had descended into Hades) them being punished, those who would not remain faithful to their wives.” — Diogenes Laertius

ᛘ ᛦ ᛯ Algiz
Part 3 - Form and Stave Symbolism Further Study
The form - ᛯ - is found to be one of the most ancient of forms as well as one of the most widely spread (across various traditions). We see it used in various lands to denote the weapon of the God of Divine Strength, keeping the order of all with that weapon, and/or otherwise Divine Power itself.
The weapon is associated with that highest form of power - lightning and thunder. It stands with the foremost form - ᛯ - denoting the same root as the staves of the Futharks - ᛘ actor expressing energy/power | ᛦ energy/power deeply rooted; otherwise more simply put as the conduit through which Divine Power can pass from the potential to the actual expression. The weapon is fearsome, able to eradicate anything the God wishes, and it works to maintain order and sustain the God's will often without use, but merely through its existence being known (it drives fear in the hearts of all).
The form of the weapon is found at times varying between - ᛘ I ᛯ X - detailing the connection between the actor and that power which is harnessed and used by the actor if necessary to ensure order is upheld and wickedness (chaos) destroyed.
We can also see it pictured without direct reference to a God, as pictured by the Germanic "dancing warriors," above. In this case we can understand that the meaning is truly the same, but is to be understood as man mirroring the Divine motif and himself wielding power for the sake of the Divine Will.
In later use, it is found as the scepter of the monarch in the form - I - harkening back to the same symbol; [Divine] Power accessed and expressed by the actor (God or King) and calling to mind the monarch's (or God's) Divine right to rule.

Remember always, the Immortals come to assistance to those who offer sweat and blood at the altar of eternal struggle.
In this age of turmoil and decay, may you find the strength to answer destiny's call with a resounding yes made manifest not in words but in decisive action.
Step forward from the fog, leave behind the sub-human herds and forge yourself into something of worth.

Cultural nuance within language is important for understanding the worldview of ancient people, and most translations of the Eddas and Sagas into English forget, or flat out disregard this element.
The language of a people expresses the worldview of a people and thus gives insight into the way they think and/or thought. When you separate a people from their language, they lose their native way of thought and expression. It is the quickest way to subvert and kill culture.
That is why language revivalism is so important for the revitalizing of native faiths.

Before I proceed, in this post I am in NO way justifying the act of breaking oaths. Anyone who takes their word seriously should be very careful what oaths they take and to who they make them to. And that is the point of what you’re about to read.
When we think of an oath we think of a bond that is made between two conscious beings.
Usually these beings are humans or Gods.
The one giving the oath Is usually the one who carries the most angxiety of breaking their bond. However, an oath is a two (or multiple if there are many individuals/beings involved) way street and the reciever of an oath can also fail the one who is giving it. Unless they are a God or divine being of course.
The Gods are perfect and require nothing from mankind. Therefore an oath made to them is strictly dependant on the human/lower being who made it because the Gods are incapable of failing an oath due to their divine nature. The oath made to a God(s) is strictly for the benefit of the one who made it. Because no matter what you could offer as a human through your pledge, the Gods are above it and have no need for it. The same can be said for offerings.
The Gods only wish for the one who gave the oath to succeed and align themselves more with their divine nature.
On another hand, when an oath is made between humans, it is two (or multiple) ways in terms of the oath being kept. An example would be when one is sworn into a specific line of work. Such as a member of the armed forces or a police officer, you take an oath. Because of the nature of the realm we live in, these organizations may fail you in one way or another that may result in the loss of your job, and further, the breaking of your oath. But not because of *you* of course.
Should you be the one who bears shame and receive divine punishment for an oath broken that you had no responsibility for its end? Of course not. And I don’t believe the Gods see it this way either. We live in a wolf-age full of rats, con artists, and liars of all types.
It is easy to be deceived into swearing yourself to someone (or some people) who will indeed fail you and will not serve you in your path of growth.
We as Germanic Pagans are relearning the nature of our ancient sacred practices. One of these practices are oaths. Heed these words well and learn from the mistakes of others.

Remember this as you navigate the year by word and deed.
09.01.202506:28
Our Forebears knew that life was not finite, they knew that while the body decays the und/athem (soul) is infinite and never dies. They also understood the relation between spirit-matter and thus valued life without need for extremes (be it strict asceticism or material overindulgence) and so lived a balanced life (at best). Because of all of this they placed high value on the family unit and folk unit, and ensured to leave things proper for their descendants (they knew that they would reap as descendants what they sowed as forebears).

Divination Fundraiser, and Lunar Rites Reminder
Tonight is the Deipnon. This is the day of monthly home-cleaning and self-purification, and the night when one makes offerings (of which they do not partake) to the ancestors and to Hekate. It is also the best day of the lunar month for divination, and it is an ancient tradition to perform divination for the new year.
This year, I am going to perform divination for those who make a fully tax-deductible donation of $15+ to the Temple. My preferred method of divination is I Ching, but I am also trained in Tarot, Futhark, and Ogham. Unless you have a particular preference, I will provide I Ching divination. If you have deep, burning questions about your personal or spiritual life or about the nature of things, or if you are curious about your future or outcomes of the next year, this is the service for you. I will perform the divination at the hour of sunrise Monday morning on the lunar day of the Deipnon just before the New Year, a triply propitious time to perform this work on the most powerful planetary hour and planetary day possible to perform it.
You must donate within the next 19 hours (before 7:30 a.m. EDT on Monday) if you would like to receive this service at the most propitious time of the year. The next propitious time will be chosen for those who donate after this time.
Donate at https://otnr.net/donate/ for the Custom Amount $15 or greater, and check the box "Write us a comment," leaving the comment:
"For Divination by I Ching/Futhark/Tarot (choose one). My question is "What will/would be the outcome of ___? Please send fortune to [First and Last Name] at [email address]."

In the Hávamál there is a stanza which discusses remedies for things such as "a sheaf of grain against witchcraft, Earth against drunkenness, etc" with an often magical connotation. However there is also practical remedies and an interesting one is "oak against dysentery symptoms." I found an article online which discusses properties and uses of oak and its various parts and sure enough it is known to be helpful for treating dysentery. Here is the article for those interested.
