Pfizer stoppte still und leise neues „Wundermedikament“
Still und leise hat Pfizer die Markteinführung eines Medikaments gestoppt, das man massiv beworben und gelobt hat. Es hätte Milliarden einbringen sollen.
Osivelotor hätte ein Medikament gegen die sogenannte Sichelzellanämie (SCD) werden sollen. Diese genetische Erkrankung führt zur Bildung eines abnormalen Hämoglobins, wodurch die roten Blutkörperchen eine sichelförmige, starre Struktur annehmen.
„Die FDA hat kürzlich einen teilweisen klinischen Stopp für Osivelotor verhängt, der es Pfizer verbietet, neue Teilnehmer in die klinischen Studien mit Osivelotor aufzunehmen. Die derzeit eingeschriebenen Studienteilnehmer können das Studienmedikament weiter einnehmen. Die Kommunikation mit der FDA ist im Gange.“
