Animals in captivity will tend to exhibit behaviors quite unlike their wild counterparts. Elephants may shake their heads and sway, panda bears won't breed, wolves will abandon the family-pack system for what we call an alpha-beta system, and many other intelligent animals have been seen to just...not act right after long periods of captivity. This condition is called "Zoochosis", a kind of psychosis that affects animals in captivity. This happens for a multitude of reasons, one assumption being that they're incredibly bored leading to a deep depression. Animals in the wild lead lives of generally healthy sensory stimulation which when deprived of or not given enough of, will lead to the animals developing zoochosis.
An animal unfulfilled will, inevitably, become depressed and not 'act right.' They aren't shy, they're sad and they don't want to 'get out of bed' in the morning. Many that have felt depressed will know what I mean. Humans are animals and like the ones in the zoo, humans in captivity (whether it be in a cell or in an open air zoo like so many of us live in now) will and I believe often do develop zoochosis. That's why humans today act so fucked up and wrong, why depression has skyrocketed, why everything seems so bad.
We've been removed from each other, removed from meaningful relationships, removed from meaningful work, from our environments, from everything that's healthy for us and being uprooted in this way has driven humanity as a whole (though my primary concern is the White race) into collective zoochosis.
This is a terrible thing, so what's the cure? Well, look at what we've been removed from. The cure, or at least a remedy on the way to a cure, is each other. To form meaningful connections again, to put down the phone and hug our loved ones instead, to try and make time away from the rat race to do something meaningful for ourselves and our people, and for the love of all that's holy get back into the green again. Go for a walk, breathe in the air, by all that's holy there's steps to be taken to remedy this terrible ailment afflicting us and it only takes you making the decision to do it. To make time for it. Make your health, mental, physical, spiritual, etc. a priority and make the time to cure the zoochosis.
We'll find meaning again if we can step outside and look to each other and realize we're so much closer than we thought and once we've rediscovered meaning and folk, nothing will ever be able to stop us again.

To cut through the bullshit and stay focused on the problems at hand has been one of the most difficult things to practice for me and I imagine for many, especially when so many are led by the nose (there's a joke there, somewhere) and bite onto the next rage bait so easily. Last night I was half-watching a video of a woman passionate about old books, ones that are no longer in circulation, and the concern she has for them because despite the internet's reputation as being the archive of all knowledge it doesn't have nearly as much knowledge of real worth. Old books are left to rot either from sheer neglect or are considered too precious to read, and so are dishonored by not even being read.
For years now I've been collecting books whether physical or digital, tracking down as much as I can and storing them on hard drives and wanting to get them back into distribution because I don't want that knowledge to be forgotten. There's so much we've lost, so much we've forgotten, that we look back on what our ancestors did and say "How in the world did you do that?" and can't imagine it being done without some extraterrestrial help.
Bookbinding is a skill I want to learn. I want to digitize, transcribe and print books to get them back into people's hands. That knowledge shouldn't be lost. I don't expect any money will be made doing it, but I'm not doing any of this for money. I'm doing it so I can try to keep our people knowledgeable and re-connect with the crafts that help to make society so damned magical. There was a time when craft was slow but it meant something, it lasted a long time, and now everything falls apart in no time at all and it's all so devoid of any real value.
That has to change. It just has to.
