German media doubles down on prolonging the war in Ukraine (how humanitarian of them) by publishing this provocative cover: “BETRAYED: First Zelensky, soon us?” The hysterical mood of Germany’s political elites that seems to be behind such language is very revealing! More important, if Zelensky and Germany were betrayed, then who do they think is the traitor?

These women-in-power graphics from the establishment media are always so amusing! 🤦🏻♀️ 😂
First, they use such timelines that deliberately exclude the likes of Catherine the Great or Wu Zetian because they undermine their argument.
Second, they come from those who negate any gender roles considered traditional. At the same time, they argue that women in power would be more nurturing and peaceful—relying on those traditional women’s qualities (real or idealized) that they just rejected, and, thus, contradict themselves.
Third, in line with the very definition of politics at the highest levels of power, some female leaders assume qualities considered masculine (at times, to explicitly compete with and outdo those in the “boys’ club”) and act even more bellicose than their male counterparts. Alternatively, they are the unremarkable and interchangeable middle managers of the U.S. empire carefully highlighted on the map of the EU states.

I wonder what ordinary Europeans, especially Germans, think of the IMF’s current data and downgraded forecasts for the EU. The IMF euphemistically blames the war in Ukraine, and we know their leaders are compliantly silent. Sanctions massively damaged German industries, especially in regard to the energy sector. Being forced to buy more expensive U.S. energy and moving some industries to the U.S., when will the Europeans realize the extent to which they’ve been screwed six ways to Sunday and by whom?

‼️Trump was right: Zelensky’s rule is illegitimate— now according to Ukraine’s parliament.
Ukraine’s 🇺🇦 Rada (parliament) did not support a resolution stating that Zelensky "must exercise his powers until the newly elected president of Ukraine takes office.”
The vote was also supposed to signal confidence in Zelensky’s leadership to the members of the EU Commission visiting Ukraine. Oops!
That said, the margin was close: 218 voted to support Zelensky’s legitimacy. A passing vote required 226. And, of course, it doesn’t seem like the EU is concerned about Zelensky’s legitimacy at all since they doubled down on their support.

Putin, as the Host of the BRICS Summit, highlighted the “unhealthy” methods used by the West that, in his view, undermine regional and global stability:
“The transition to a new fairer world order is not progressing smoothly. Forces used to the logic of dominating everyone and everything are attempting to slow it down. Behind the screen of the rules-based order imposed onto the world, there are attempts to contain its growing competitors and sovereign development of countries in Africa, Asia, and Latin America beyond their control. They use illegal unilateral sanctions, outright protectionism, currency, and stock market manipulation, as well as meddling in internal affairs disguised as concern for democracy, human rights, and the fight against climate change. This is being used, too.
These, let’s put it bluntly, unhealthy methods lead to the rise of new conflicts as well as exacerbate old contradictions. Thus, they violate regional and global strategic stability, and the principles of equal and indivisible security, while encouraging internecine strife and conflicts between countries.
One such example is Ukraine, which was and is being used to create critical security threats for Russia while ignoring our existential interests and justifiable concerns about the violation of the rights of the Russian-speaking people.”

Freedom and Money: Anton Chekhov
Russian author Anton Chekov, who wrote Three Sisters and The Cherry Orchard, is considered one of the greatest writers in the world. But, reading his letters, he seems like an ordinary guy we could all relate to (excluding the literary genius part)! So I translated these excerpts for you:
A wild party and a bad hangover:
“[A]fter a wild night I returned home at 10:30 in the morning and slept until five in the evening. I had dinner yesterday in the foyer of the Korshevsky Theatre with actors, actresses, and generals. A farewell dinner on the occasion of the season's end. […] I drank a little, but haphazardly, mixed liqueurs with cognac. Now, I have an oppressive emptiness inside. It feels as if there is an abyss with cold walls inside me.” (February 1889)
Do nothing, but feel like a good person:
“I have an unbearable desire to eat, drink, sleep, and talk about literature, that is, to do nothing and at the same time feel like a decent person." (August 1892)
I want freedom and money:
“Do you want to party? I want to so badly. I'm so drawn to the sea. Living in Yalta or Feodosia [Crimea] for a week would be a real pleasure for me. It's nice to be at home, but it would be a thousand times better to be on a steamship. I want freedom and money. To sit on the deck, drink wine, and talk about literature, and, in the evening, the ladies.
Would you like to go to the south in September? Of course, the Russian south, since I don't have enough money for the foreign one. We could travel together if you don't mind.” (July 1893)

Ukrainian Youth Prefers the Russian 🇷🇺Language to Ukrainian 🇺🇦
In an interview with the YouTube channel Politeka Online, Ukrainian political scientist Konstantin Bondarenko suggested that the Russian language is turning into the language of protest in Ukraine, with the youth preferring it to Ukrainian, especially in urban environments.
As a reminder, since 2019, i.e. since before the Russian special military operation, Ukraine has been operating according to a law that requires the exclusive use of the Ukrainian language in various parts of the public sphere.
Bondarenko also believes that the Russian language will regain its losses in Ukraine in a generation.

“Many in Ukraine also see no point in holding elections if their obvious winner is already sitting in the presidential chair. No Ukrainian politician can currently compare with Zelensky in terms of trust and support [in May 2024 after Zelensky refused to hold elections].”

This weekend’s upcoming parliamentary elections in Georgia 🇬🇪 are turning into a circus 🤡
The official West has been using its standard tactics of accusing Russia 🇷🇺 of meddling while applying unprecedented pressure on Georgia. We’ve already witnessed this play out with Georgia’s foreign agent law earlier in the year. Whereas the law is about funding transparency for NGOs, the official West brazenly dubbed it the “Russian law” for propaganda purposes while dangling carrots and employing sticks in several ways, such as Georgia’s EU bid. As a result of these tactics, the main message of the Georgian Dream Party has been not being anyone’s vassal.
One of the other reasons for a crisis in the relationship between Georgia and the official West was the fact that the West planned to use Georgia to launch a second front against Russia in the Ukraine war—at least according to the founder of Georgian Dream, Bidzina Ivanishvili. Indeed, the Party has been using the Ukraine war imagery to promote peace, enraging some Westerners and Ukrainians. At the same time, the official message of Georgia’s PM and Georgia Dream’s leader Irakli Kobakhidze is that Georgia seeks to be in the EU 🇪🇺 around 2030.
On a practical level, these tense parliamentary elections involve 3.5 million voters, of which close to 96,000 live abroad. These are the 11th parliamentary elections since the Soviet dissolution. The voters are to elect 150 MPs from those parties that meet the 5% threshold. The results may range from a coalition government to a majority Georgian Dream rule, giving it significant power. The opposition, using the “Russian meddling” language just like the official West, may seek to accuse the government of vote falsifications and cause unrest. Some fear regime change.
