JUST IN: A federal judge in California on Friday temporarily blocked plans for reductions-in-force and reorganization at 21 departments and agencies across the federal government, a significant setback as the Trump administration works to downsize.
The temporary restraining order, in effect for two weeks, puts the president’s “Department of Government Efficiency” Workforce Optimization Initiative on hold for 21 departments and agencies. The order also includes memos issued to the same effect by the Office of Personnel Management and DOGE.
Illston, appointed by President Bill Clinton, said she believes there’s no statute that gives the Office of Personnel Management, the Office of Management and Budget, or DOGE the authority to direct other federal agencies to engage in large-scale terminations, restructuring, or elimination of itself. “Such action is far outside the bounds of any authority that Congress vested in OPM or OMB, and, as noted, DOGE has no statutory authority whatsoever,” she wrote.

A federal judge on Friday ordered Rumeysa Ozturk, a Tufts doctoral candidate, to be immediately released from immigration custody on bail as she pursues a challenge to her detention by immigration authorities after the Trump administration revoked her student visa.
U.S. District Judge William Sessions, who is presiding over the case, said at the conclusion of Friday's bail hearing that Ozturk raised "very substantial" and "very significant" claims that her First Amendment and due process rights were violated when she was taken into custody following the revocation of her student visa in March.
"Her continued detention cannot stand," he said.

🚨🚨🚨HUGE development in Alien Enemies Act case that SCOTUS entered a stay for an entire class that had not been certified. District judge now denies class certification.
2 individual aliens sued to challenge removal under Alien Enemies Act & asked for the court to make it a class action so that every alien detained in the geographic area was automatically a plaintiff too. When court makes something a class action they "certify" a class.
The court refused to certify a class so it is not a class action. Thus any remedy, such as barring Trump from removing aliens under Alien Enemies Act only applies to the 2 named plaintiffs--not every alien in the area.

He said that there was, and still is, an effort to gas light children from incestious families, who have a dynastic history of child abuse, rape, molestation, and neglect. He said in many cases, both the children and their familial abusers dissociate, so neither might remember what happened. Father was abused by their father as a young child, who abused their child. Alcohol and drugs often trigger dissociation. He said that they have different epigenetic profiles than normal people, and that even the government was in contact with them because they make good spies and intelligence assets.
The most shocking part, he said, was somewhere on the order of 5% to 10% of the population—and that's just based on the cases he encountered. He suspected it was likely much more than that.
