Salmon have their skeletal system maimed by serotonin and prolactin when switching between fresh and salt-water. They remain alive, but their skin falls off as it rots and their bodies begin to slowly shut down. They are like God's case study of what not to do on a biological level. They survive the stress of freezing cold water by accumulating a high amount of PUFA to keep their cell membranes fluid. 300 grams of wild caught salmon equals about 1 tablespoon of seed oil in PUFA.
Google "zombie salmon".

The thyroid gland, liver, heart, brain, kidneys etc. are basically like an orchestra that perform and regulate this fundamental energy flow of your body.

And if the body is the orchestra, the thyroid sits on top as the conductor; it controls the rate at which glucose and oxygen are burned (metabolic rate).

Now you can see how important it is to have adequate thyroid function.

Chronic stress, PUFA, Nutrient deficiencies, toxins, leaky gut, sleep deprivation, low-carb and low-calorie diets are all things that can lower thyroid function.

Anything that disrupts energy production, nutrient availability or hormonal balance can lead to hypothyroid symptoms.
You know those gallbladder flushes and liver cleanses with a bunch of gallstones coming out? It seems those arenโ€™t actually gallstones.

Turns out itโ€™s basically saponified bile, olive oil and lemon juice, making little soap balls to then pass per rectum:

Microscopic examination of our patient's stones revealed that they lacked any crystalline structure, melted to an oily green liquid after 10 min at 40ยฐC, and contained no cholesterol, bilirubin, or calcium by established wet chemical methods. Traditional faecal fat extraction techniques indicated that the stones contained fatty acids that required acid hydrolysis to give free fatty acids before extraction into ether. These fatty acids accounted for 75% of the original material.

Atmospheric Speculations & Immortality

How people potentially lived for centuries:

Dr. Peat speculated a big factor to increased health and longevity at high altitude is the lower oxygen pressure and increased CO2 causing the so called โ€œlactate paradoxโ€. (R)

Thereโ€™ve been examples of animals surviving for centuries because theyโ€™d been incapsulated in a very high CO2 environment.

Breathing pure oxygen lowers the oxygen content of tissues; breathing rarefied air, or air with carbon dioxide, oxygenates and energizes the tissues; if this seems upside down, it's because medical physiology has been taught upside down. And respiratory physiology holds the key to the special functions of all the organs, and to many of their basic pathological changes. (R)
- Ray Peat

Thereโ€™s enough evidence to show that a little over 4000 years ago, during the previous vapor canopy, the atmosphere was very different: CO2 levels were over 3000 to 9000ppm compared to todayโ€™s 420ppm.

A few centuries ago the CO2 bottomed out at round 175ppm. (Plants die around 150ppm).
O2 levels used to be >30% but currently sit around 21%. (People start having cognitive issues around 19%).

So what was going on when the CO2 levels were over 3000ppm?

- Increased humidity
- No deserts
- Mega flora
- Huge animals
- Giant people
- Increased conductivity
- Increased metabolism
- Healthier & longer lives

What not many take into consideration is the increased atmospheric electricity at higher altitudes:
For every 1 meter you go up in the air, the voltage increases by about 100V and paired with higher humidity, interesting things happen. St. Elmoโ€™s Fire is a good example.

We also know that negatively charged air, or ionized air has health benefits.

Now stack all of this on top of each other, including electrofield technology and a clear picture starts to form.

We can speculate that in such an atmosphere it would be difficult to kill someone, your metabolism would be so high, you could regenerate entire limbs.
A single breath would sustain you for ten minutes. Individuals would possess superhuman strength and significantly enhanced brainpower. Diseased bodies would need to be incinerated to prevent them from turning into soulless, zombie-like organisms. Genetic material in a bottle imbued with intention could grow homunculiโ€ฆ etcetera.

This is what things mightโ€™ve looked like in one version of the past and provides a glimpse into our future potential.

In essence, your cells primarily run on glucose (SUGAR), oxygen, and water.

Secondarily, they require minerals/ions, carbon dioxide (CO2), heat, and light to utilize the glucose, oxygen, and water.

Tertiarily, many other building blocks come into play like cholesterol, amino acids, vitamins and other structural fats to maintain, repair, and tune the cellโ€™s function.
Spring cleanse for renewed Vitality:

Focus and energy are similar to function and structure; they are bound together.

Even with an abundance of physiological energy you still need to direct that energy, the choices you make and your focus, in order to go in the right direction.

You understand that when your focus is spread too thin among too many things it causes energy leaks. It doesnโ€™t matter how much energy you have, we only have so many hours in a day. So many days in a life.

In an ideal world we get to choose our own stressors. In an ideal worldโ€ฆ

Some of your suboptimal routines and habits mightโ€™ve become so ingrained that it can feel like a sacrifice to change them, but remember, you are sacrificing the lower to the higher. You will open up space within you and have more time/energy left for what really matters.

I recommend doing an internal spring cleanse of the spirit:

1. Who do you want to become?
Determine where you want to go. Be clear about this. Who are you really? What does he stand for? How does he act?

2. Who do you absolutely not want to become?
Determine the things in your life that donโ€™t match your higher self. The things holding you back.
Now be thankful for the insights gained from those past experiences and make a plan to change the things that donโ€™t match the higher you.

3. Act like your higher self.
All the day-dreaming in the world wonโ€™t amount to a single thing without the actions to comport. Act as if, and you will becomeโ€”but be truthful about this (paradoxical).

Redirect the newfound time and energy to what is important to you and align your inner vision of who you will become with your actions.

Took a 40 degree fever to make me remember this but itโ€™s not mandatory.

The wrong way to lose fat โ€” an excerpt from my upcoming pdf:

CICO (calories in calories out) mindset by itself is retarded.
Calories matter only in context of metabolism. It decides whether your food becomes energy or fat.
A โ€œfast metabolismโ€ can come from two completely different drivers:
- Proper thyroid function (the good kind)
- Chronic stress (the degenerative kind)

Under-eating triggers the stress response; your thyroid signals your body to shift into survival mode:
- Cortisol and adrenaline rise
- Thyroid function drops
- Protective hormones like testosterone drop
- Stress hormones including estrogen further rise
- Metabolism turns catabolic, eating lean muscle to survive
- As muscles are metabolically stimulating, the loss in muscle tissue will further slow down metabolism
- A downward spiral of entropy entailsโ€ฆ

Congrats, now you can eat even less.
The result is the typical skinny fat physique and pancake ass.

Sugar is stored as glycogen in the muscles and liver. When glycogen runs low, your body will break down muscle to keep blood sugar steady. Detoxification depends on a healthy liver and your liver needs two things which are sugar (glucose) and proper thyroid function.
Rather than sugar being โ€œaddictiveโ€, itโ€™s essential. You can hold your breath longer than your brain can go without sugar.

โ€œBut muh keto!โ€

Using fat as primary fuel is a stress adaptation, not a sign of health.
Your body can use fat for fuel but that doesnt mean it should:
- Ketones are made during starvation, not thriving
- Keto mimics famine; in ketosis cortisol rises to maintain blood sugar since there is no glycogen
- Burning fat increases lipolysis which releases PUFA into the blood increasing oxidative stress and suppressing thyroid function

While a ketogenic diet can serve some purposes short term, it is inherently a stress adaptation. Survival mode. Running on fat is like running a car on old motor oil, you can do it, but the engine wears out faster. If you experience cold hands, insomnia, mood swings, losing hair etc. thereโ€™s a good chance youโ€™re crashing your metabolism instead of burning just fat.

Severely restricting calories and sugar will eventually lead to chronic stress, thyroid suppression and a slower metabolism. Eventually you gain fat eating less. The classic yo-yo spiral. I am calling it fat-gain instead of weight-gain. Because weight-gain would be a good thing in the context of gaining muscle.

The bottom line is that itโ€™s not just about eating less and exercising more, nor calories in calories out. Itโ€™s about nourishing your body with what it needs to function so that it can maintain and even evolve its current structure โ€” Fat loss as a side effect of vitality.

I pray for the post peat vapor canopy era to rejuvenate our tired bodies. Need to live up to at least 500. This short lifespan is unnatural.

I do think weโ€™re at the end stages of this hard-mode dungeon and I like to look at it as a great opportunity to gain experience points. I think you ought to strive to become as much as you can be in a healthy and playful way.
A playful energy, sufficient energy, can make for a completely different experience and outcome.

Simply put; it's best to do things willingly in a pleasant manner so that they are sustainable.

Iโ€™ve never been super strong at benching but since starting the easy peaty quest Iโ€™ve upped my bench by 30% while losing fatโ€ฆ

At this rate Iโ€™ll finally bench 3 plates for 5 by summer.
Sorry guys, little break. I think Iโ€™ve peated too hard
This is the way
Isaiah 65:20 (NIV): โ€œNever again will there be in it an infant who lives but a few days, or an old man who does not live out his years; the one who dies at a hundred will be thought a mere child; the one who fails to reach a hundred will be considered accursed.โ€

Isaiah 65:22 (NIV): โ€œNo longer will they build houses and others live in them, or plant and others eat. For as the days of a tree, so will be the days of my people; my chosen ones will long enjoy the work of their hands.โ€

If you enjoy salmon or other darker fish you can get away with it if youโ€™re healthy and enjoy it. Preparing it with coconut oil or dairy butter balances out the fatty acid ratios. In general white fish is easier on the body.

I hope todayโ€™s class wasnโ€™t too dull. This is the most condensed explanation of the physiological foundations of bioenergetics I could come up with.

Itโ€™s fundamental to your wellbeing and will be common knowledge after the pre-peaty era.

"...Methylene blue is just a poor chemical substitute for the active thyroid hormone..." Ray
Peat (2020)

I was wrong to praise MB that much 3 years ago. It seems to be useful under very specific circumstances but nevertheless just a poor chemical substitute for an electron carrier.
17.04.202516:22
But I get it. Itโ€™s hard and time consuming at first to put everything together and make it applicable for your specific circumstances. Especially when you feel suboptimal and arenโ€™t functioning well.
